Niels primarily advises within corporate & commercial, including particularly on commercial contracts, company law and general corporate law.

Apart from advising on general corporate law, Niels has special expertize within the offshore industry, where he previously held legal and commercial leadership positions with Maersk Drilling and Ocean Rig (now Transocean) (offshore drilling contractors).

He therefore has extensive experience with the offshore industry’s contractual and regulatory matters, including matters relating to running a drilling rig as well as the potential liabilities associated with drilling rigs, energy projects, ships etc. as well as in relation to newbuildings, yardstays, constructions projects and similar.

Finally, Niels advises on data protection and holds a CIPP/E certification (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe by the International Association of Privacy Professionals).

Niels has in his past worked both as in-house counsel and has held purely commercial leadership roles within and outside of Denmark, and additionally has experience as the co-founder of a start-up. Weighing of the optimal legal solution vs. the commercial reality and the need for a practical and specific solution is therefore always a natural part of Niels’ services.

Based on his experience from ”both sides of the table”, Niels functions equally well as a 100% external advisor within his areas of specialization, and as a flexible part of an in-house legal team to solve resource issues, in the event of special projects and as e.g. a temporary ”General Counsel on demand”.
